Independent sourcing

You send a number, a label photograph or a description. We identify it, source it, and quote it delivered. We hold no exclusive agency, so the recommendation is not decided before you ask.

How it works

1. You send what you have. A manufacturer’s article number, a photograph of a
   label, a line from a purchase order, a standard you have to meet, or a description of the
   sample and the problem. Any of those is enough to start.
2. We identify it. If it is a part number we hold, we say so. If it is
   another manufacturer’s number, we find the original or a documented equivalent and tell you
   which of the two we are quoting — see Equivalents.
3. We ask our questions once. If something is ambiguous we ask in one
   message, not across a week of exchanges.
4. You receive a written quotation. It states the manufacturer’s article
   number and description, the quantity, the lead time to your delivery location, the price and
   how long the offer is valid. Nothing about price, stock or availability is published on this
   site; it belongs in the quotation, where it is specific to your order.
5. We deliver, with the documents. See below.

Where we deliver

The Gulf Co-operation Council states: the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman,
Kuwait and Bahrain. We are established in the UAE, at Dubai Integrated Economic Zones, and the
UAE is where delivery is most straightforward. For the other five, customs treatment, documentary
requirements and route depend on the goods and on your importer of record, and the quotation
states what applies to your shipment rather than making a general promise here.

Some of what a metallography laboratory buys is classified as dangerous goods
— resins, hardeners, certain suspensions and aerosols. That affects how a consignment moves
and what paperwork it needs. Where a product carries that classification it is stated on the
product page.

What comes with delivery

• Certificate of conformity where the manufacturer issues one for the
  item.
• Safety data sheet for every chemical product, in the form the manufacturer
  publishes it.
• Product data sheet — the manufacturer’s own, not our summary of
  it.
• Batch and traceability markings as the manufacturer applies them. Several
  of the consumables in this catalogue carry a batch code and production date on the item
  itself.

Which of these exist for a given item is the manufacturer’s decision, not ours, and it varies by product. Tell us which documents your procedure requires and the quotation will state what we can supply with that item.

What P2 is not

• Not a manufacturer. Nothing here is made by us. Every figure on a product
  page belongs to the manufacturer and names the document and page it came from.
• Not an exclusive agent. We hold no exclusive distribution agreement that
  would oblige us to recommend one brand. Where more than one manufacturer makes a suitable item,
  the quotation can carry more than one.
• Not a testing laboratory. We do not run samples, issue test reports or
  certify results. Where a guide describes a preparation method it is the manufacturer’s
  published method, and we say plainly that we have not run it ourselves.
• Not a stockist of everything we list. This catalogue is what we can source,
  which is a larger set than what sits on a shelf. Availability is answered in the quotation,
  per item, on the day.
