Aka-Cut user guide

Operating and safety guidance for the abrasive cut-off wheels: mounting, flange sizing, coolant and the faults that indicate a wrong setting.

1 pages 7 products covered Akasel

A single-page operating sheet. Short, and worth reading once by anyone who mounts
wheels, because most of the faults it lists are set-up faults rather than product faults.

The points that matter in practice

Flanges should be at least a quarter of the wheel diameter — undersized flanges let the
wheel flex, which shows up first as a slanted cut and eventually as breakage. Coolant must reach
both sides of the cut; single-sided cooling is the most common cause of a burnt sample on a
machine that is otherwise set up correctly. And feed rate is the variable to change before
changing grade: on hardened material, excess feed force explains more burnt faces than the
wrong wheel does.

Our own troubleshooting table, which reads the symptom back to the cause, is on the
abrasive
cut-off wheel guide
