What P2 does

Two lines of work, and they support each other. We source consumables for laboratories across the Gulf, and we advise laboratories on which consumables their work actually needs.

Independent sourcing

You send a part number, a photograph of a label, a specification or a description of the
problem. We identify what it is, find who makes it, and quote it delivered to your laboratory.
We are not a manufacturer’s agent and we are not tied to one brand, so the answer to
“what should we use” is not fixed in advance by who pays us.

Laboratory consulting

Method development for sample preparation, consumable selection against a standard, setting up
a new metallography laboratory, and working out why a preparation that used to work has stopped.
This is the half of the business that makes the catalogue worth reading rather than just
browsing.

Where the two meet

Most enquiries arrive as a sourcing question and turn out to be a method question. A
laboratory asking for a finer diamond suspension is often asking why their samples scratch, and
the useful answer is frequently a different cloth rather than a finer abrasive. We would rather
answer the second question, because a consumable that does not fix the problem gets returned and
the problem stays.

The preparation guides are that argument in public: published methods,
the document and page each figure comes from, and the reading of why the sequence is shaped the
way it is.
