Cut-off wheel selection guide
The manufacturer's recommendation card: which grade to reach for by material group, including where the abrasive range ends and superabrasives take over.
A two-page recommendation card organised by material group rather than by product,
which is the way the question usually arrives in a laboratory: someone has a sample, not a
grade.
Where the abrasive range stops
The most useful thing in it is the boundary. Above roughly 700 HV, and for hard brittle
materials generally, a bonded abrasive wheel wears fast, generates heat and can chip the
material. The card points those cases at CBN for hardened steels and diamond for
non-metallics — which is the family we list as
diamond
and CBN cut-off wheels.
A caution on reading it
The card’s application-to-grade mapping is expressed as marks in a grid. We do not restate
per-application claims from it on our product pages, because the grid’s column alignment does
not survive text extraction reliably and we publish no figure we cannot verify.
